Kinda glad Byakuya didn't die with a sh*tty send-off.

I actually would've liked to see Byakuya dead. This chapter really had an "anyone can die" kind of buildup, and excepting Yama (revealing his bankai against the Big Bad meant that he had to die or else Juha wouldn't be a credible threat) and Sasakibe (who cares?) nobody on the good side bit it. If a well-regarded character like Byakuya actually died then I would've been more satisfied.

Oh well.

Agreed. Based on how things were going it felt like characters were going to die. Sure it sucked how it was being done, but it gave gravity to the situation. Finding out that no major character, not even the one that gave his final request, died is frustrating. Predictable, but frustrating.

To each his own I suppose. I'd probably swallow things better if the guy who took down Byakuya wasn't just one-shotted by Yamamoto, even if he is Yamamoto. Kinda cheapened the whole thing to me.

Essentially, the whole situation stunk to me.

O, that does not help matters. Kubo could have thrown any random characters at Yama to go die, but no, he picked the one that curb-stomped one of the major characters.

Really? That was actually the highlight of the chapter for more. Sui Feng is one of, if not my least favorite Captain, and I love Komamura, so seeing him yell at her made me happy.

Soi fon is one my least favorite characters...the talking dog IS my least favorite character. So any moment where he gets to shine...is fail in my eyes. Sure the fact that he told off someone who fails arguably as much as he does mitigates that fact. Seeing as both of them got their bankai's snatched and that's all that really happened to them while my favorite characters either get sodomized on screen by their own bankai or off screen sodomized by some gimp with a third eye just angers me a little more.

Eh, I personally can accept this idea, though I don't like it that much.

Kubo did cover any bad angles on it from what I can tell.

I think more than anything it's an excuse for Ichigo to get a new Bankai that'll help him defeat Juha Bach.

Yea, thats more or less how I feel about it. It does however make Ikkaku getting jabronied at for not using his bankai seem strange, since it would have been known that it was weakened.

I can not see Ichigo getting a new Bankai. Side from JUST getting a redesign, his Bankai is THE iconic thing of the series and to screw with that would be skating on ice so thin its not if will crack, but when. It will likely lead to his Bankai getting stronger though.
