  1. 1. Should it?

My homework had to be completed and right before I could do anything else. My mother used to check it. If it was wrong' date=' I had to do it again until I got it right...

It didn't bother me at all. It actually gave me something to do. So, I say that homework is necessary. It helps you learn to find information and solve problems on your own with the tools and resources given to you - as well as find some that aren't.

Basically, I don't think that homework should be abolished whatsoever.

So I take it your parents are so smart that they know the correct answers to everything on your assignments?

The fact that your mom had to check all the time sounds annoying and boring. In school, that's when your supposed to learn the correct answers. Of course, the school policies obviously work differently, so I wouldn't know.

My mother would check the answers in the back of the book to see if the answer matched up. If it didn't, she'd help me to get the right answer.

He's talking about parents in general. Parents who actually care for their child's education would like to help their kid succeed.

In my parent's case' date=' they just care about the homework actually getting done, but would also like it for me to have done a good enough job.

yeah well mine along with others don't care just getting it done, it also has to be done RIGHT

of course they don't know the answers, they just have the attitude "I know more about the subject than you do, despite the fact I don't even know the subject's name and all, my education experience overrides that"

To dismiss all homework as pointless busywork is to dismiss all government spending as pork.

Homework allows optimal use of actual class time and enables the student to teach themselves.

Now' date=' that being said, in the cases where homework is misused and degenerates into pointless busywork or some other nonproductive form, a problem exists. However, the problem lies in the specific instance of homework rather than in the core nature of homework.

But I never complete class work anyway, so having extra work is pointless for me.

Still, even if I did finish class work I would just sleep anyway.

Home work should be only given to people who have finished there work and need something else to do.

ITT: Lazy people want homework gone' date=' while other people who have somwhat intelligence realize that homework is necessary for school.

even smart people don't WANT to do the work, we're all lazy

Who are you to say what people want and don't want.

why don't you ask yourself this then: if you could not do the work, would you want to?
