However' date=' I no longer have homework anyway, since I go to school online. =P[/quote'] It's Elementary School online... Homework should be assigned. Why? Homework: You learn. Your greatest teacher is yourself. No?You put the skills or things you learn from school and apply them to H.W.I personally would prefer homework to be assigned unlike most of you lazy bastards. (Although I don't prefer it sometimes if the assignment is either tedious (most of the times it is but whatever) or pointless.)

Guest Tiger
I can see why some people may want to keep it, but I have to admit, I do not like homework and I think they should get rid of it.

Guest
To dismiss all homework as pointless busywork is to dismiss all government spending as pork. Homework allows optimal use of actual class time and enables the student to teach themselves. Now, that being said, in the cases where homework is misused and degenerates into pointless busywork or some other nonproductive form, a problem exists. However, the problem lies in the specific instance of homework rather than in the core nature of homework.

Animosity
The basic objectives of assigning homework to students are the same as schooling in general: To increase the knowledge and improve the abilities and skills of the students. However, opponents of homework cite homework as rote, or grind work, designed to take up children's time, without offering tangible benefit. Homework may be designed to reinforce what students have already learned, prepare them for upcoming (or complex or difficult) lessons, extend what they know by having them apply it to new situations, or to integrate their abilities by applying many different skills to a single task. Homework also provides an opportunity for parents to participate in their children's education. I still think homework is a waist of time. So my solution: don't do it. That is what I do. Phantom Roxas
He's talking about parents in general. Parents who actually care for their child's education would like to help their kid succeed. In my parent's case, they just care about the homework actually getting done, but would also like it for me to have done a good enough job. Saturn of Elemia
My homework had to be completed and right before I could do anything else. My mother used to check it. If it was wrong, I had to do it again until I got it right... It didn't bother me at all. It actually gave me something to do. So, I say that homework is necessary. It helps you learn to find information and solve problems on your own with the tools and resources given to you - as well as find some that aren't. Basically, I don't think that homework should be abolished whatsoever.

The fact that your mom had to check all the time sounds annoying and boring. In school, that's when your supposed to learn the correct answers. Of course, the school policies obviously work differently, so I wouldn't know.
